The CPE designation is given by the International Board of Electrologist Certification.  These credentials are given only to applicants with qualifying test scores.  The certification is maintained with continuing education credits.  Barbara is the only CPE in Topeka.


Kansas Licensed Electrologist

In 1980, Barbara was licensed by the Kansas Board of Cosmetology and began practicing esthetics and electrolysis. Increasing knowledge about skin and hair removal methods has always been important to Barbara, and she has attended continuing education every year since 1982.    

Having been a member of AEA since 1990, Barbara chaired of the Infection Prevention Standards committee from 1998 to 2013.  She worked with the CDC and APIC to revise the Standards in 1995, 2000 and 2005. She traveled the U.S. and Japan to present continuing education to electrolysis colleagues.  



 


Kansas Association of Professional Electrologists

               


Barbara is a founding member and officer of KAPE.   She is an active member of the KAPE, holding the office of President for the current term, ending in 2024.  KAPE members were instrumental in getting specific licensing for electrologists in 1986. Barbara testified at the state committee meeting to promote licensure of electrologists in Kansas.  In 2007 she testified at a Health & Environment hearing to request improvement of the sanitation regulations for Kansas licensees.  In 2019 she also testified at a committee hearing regarding an update in state laws for the cosmetology profession.
